              Announcement of the 934th DANWAKAI

(Danwakai: ERI Holds “Danwakai”, a monthly meeting where its members

present their most recent academic and technical achievements, on a

Friday of every month. Danwakai is open to the public.)

Date:Friday,16 January 13:30-

Place:ERI Bldg.2, 5th floor, Conference room1

*****************************

1.13:30-13:45

ERI Monitoring system for seismic activity in Japan

*Kazushige Obara, Takuto Maeda

2.13:45-14:00

Earth′s Strain Observations with a 100 m Absolute Distance Meter

in Kamioka Mine

*Akiteru TAKAMORI, Akito ARAYA, Wataru MORII (DPRI, Kyoto University),

Souichi TELADA (AIST), Takashi UCHIYAMA, and Masatake OHASHI

(ICRR, University of Tokyo)

Summary:

The achievements and instrumentation of a 100 m absolute distance

meter (ADM) built in the Kamioka underground site will be reviewed.

3.14:00-14:15

Spectrometry of the Earth using neutrino oscillation

*Akimichi Taketa, Carsten Rott(Sungkyunkwan University)

4.14:15-14:30

Temperature, grain size, and chemical controls on polycrystal anelasticity

over a broad frequency range extending into the seismic range

*Yasuko Takei, Fumiya Karasawa, and Hatsuki Yamauchi

Summary:

Polycrystal anelasticity at near-solidus temperatures becomes important

for the quantitative interpretation of upper mantle seismic structures.

5.14:30-14:45

Southern extent of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake constrained by seismicity

*Yukihiro NAKATANI, Kimihiro MOCHIZUKI, Masanao SHINOHARA, Tomoaki YAMADA,

Ryota HINO (Tohoku University), Yoshihiro ITO (Disaster Prevention

Research Institute, Kyoto University), Yoshio MURAI (Hokkaido University),

Toshinori SATO (Chiba University)

Summary:

We investigated seismicity before and after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake

around off Ibaraki using dense ocean-bottom seismic array data.

On the basis of the results, we discuss the southern extent of

the main shock.

6.14:45-15:00

Urgent seismic observation of Northern Nagano Prefecture earthquake

* Shin’ichi Sakai, Eiji Kurashimo, Kazushige Obara, Takaya Iwasaki,

Hiroaki Takahashi(Hokkaido University), Satoshi Matsumoto, Megumi Kamizono

(Kyushu University), and Tomomi Okada(Tohoku University)

Summary:

Two days before the main shock, we had started installing temporary

seismic stations in order to reveal a relationship of the active fault

and the seismicity.
