Summary:


On the tenth anniversary of the 2004 Sumatra-Andaman earthquake and


Indian Ocean tsunami, I will review the developments in seismology and


tsunami sciences, as well as their contribution to disaster risk reduction

Summary:


Water reverberation makes difficult the receiver function analysis


when applied to ocean bottom seismometer (OBS) data. We developed a


method to effectively remove the water reverberations, and applied


the method to the OBS data to reveal the geometry of the Philippine


Sea slab subducting beneath the Kii Peninsula along the Nankai Trough.


We, then, compared the seismicity distribution with the geometry.
