Self Introduction

I am a Professor of Geological Sciences and Fellow of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder. My research specialty is seismology, and some of my earlier research contributions included the development of receiver function imaging methods (common conversion point method) and many continental broadband seismometer deployments. In recent years I have become increasingly interested in the use of ocean bottom seismic and seafloor pressure data for a wide range of applications.

The purpose of my visit to ERI is to work with Prof. Kenji Satake and Dr. Aditya Gusman on tsunami modeling using data from seafloor pressure data from ocean bottom seismic experiments. We will focus on analysis of seafloor pressure data from offshore the South Island of New Zealand that was collected in the MOANA experiment. I will also work with Prof. Kimi Mochizuki on analysis of seafloor seismic data from the HOBITSS experiment off the North Island of New Zealand.

I am thrilled to be back at ERI – it is great to be surrounded by so many outstanding researchers focused on the study of earthquakes and related phenomena.
