| As the fault on the field is striking NW, the hanging wall has slided to the southwest!. | The NW striking surface fault should have a left-lateral strike-slip motion if it is an earthquake fault. The peculiar direction (SW) can be explained if the materal on the hanging wall collided with the NW block at the frontal thrust having a NE strike, and changed its direction like fluid. There are a number of NW striking fault segments, then a similar peculiar motion might be expected there. |
