Division of DISASTER MITIGATION SCIENCE

This division is developing methods for estimating a variety of disasters caused by seismic and volcanic activities of the earth, and applying them to prevention or mitigation of the disasters. Research subjects here widely extends from observation, analysis and simulation of disaster sources such as seismic ground motions and tsunamis, to historical literatures on those disasters, their effects on various structures and social systems, etc.
