Self Introduction
My name is Abhey Bansal, I work as a principal scientist at CSIR- National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI), Hyderabad, India. I received my Ph.D. degree from the Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. My current research interest is to study precursory behavior of seismicity and present study at ERI will be on systematical statistical analysis of global seismicity with a main focus on the seismicity of Japan and Sumatra.
I worked for many years on the processing and interpretation of gravity and magnetic data for scaling/fractal distribution of sources, processing of altimeter data for obtaining high resolution gravity data, interpretation of marine data and strong motion seismology.
This is my second visit to Japan earlier I worked as JSPS invitation Fellow for ten months at the Institute of Statistical Mathematics, Tachikawa, Tokyo on the precursory behavior of mega earthquake of Sumatra, 2004 with Prof. Y. Ogata. Earlier I worked at University of Leeds, U.K.; University of Edinburgh, Scotland; Leibniz institute of Applied Geophysics, Hannover. Anyone interested to have a chat with me please feel free to contact me at Room No. 1-610.
