Self Introduction

I am Martine Amalvict, coming from Strasbourg in France, at the border with Germany. I am a geophysicist, teaching and doing research at the School and Observatory of the Earth Sciences, Strasbourg University. First involved in theoretical work, I am for more than 10 years now oriented towards field experiment and geophysical interpretation of measurements. My domain is gravemetry and specifically absolute gravimetry. The main subject is the relation between gravity variations and vertical displacements due to various causes. I have mainly focused on three sources of variations: tectonic motions, influence of hydrology and PGR in Polar regions (Svalbard and Antarctic). I already spent one full year in Japan (October 2004 – September 2005), at the National Institute of Polar Region (NIPR) at Tokyo – Itabashi, hosted by Professor Kazuo Shibuya. During this stay, I had the opportunity to participate to the comparison of Japanese absolute gravimeters in Tsukubane and to absolute gravity measurements at Oshima Island with Dr Sun and his group. Being here, at ERI, for three months, I study the relation gravity vs displacement in a volcanic environment. I am hosted by Dr Wenke Sun and Professor Okubo and his team.
