Self Introduction

Greetings, I am a geophysicist normally working at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. I am very thankful to Profs. Kawakatsu and Honda for generously hosting me at ERI, and for the work by Ms. Watanabe and the international office for facilitating my visit.

My main research interests are in geodynamics and seismology, with focus on the interactions between mantle convection, geologic surface activity, and Earth evolution (http://geodynamics.usc.edu/~becker).

At ERI, I hope to work with Profs. Kawakatsu and Honda on an improved understanding of lithospheric boundary layers, with particular focus on oceanic plate dynamics and mantle convection in the presence of anisotropic asthenospheric rheology. I am here to learn from my Japanese colleagues about their observational and theoretical projects and am looking forward to fruitful discussions.
