Host Researcher |
Hitoshi KAWAKATSU |
As a geophysicist, my main research interests are in geodynamics and seismology with focus on the interactions between mantle convection, surface geology, and Earth evolution. Recent projects include work on seismic anisotropy, mantle heat transport and the mechanics of plate tectonics, subduction dynamics, upper mantle small scale convection, dynamic topography, and fault system mechanics.
I was lucky enough to be hosted by Profs. Kawakatsu and Honda at ERI during a three month stay in 2010, and I am now visiting for two weeks to follow up on a range of research projects, and to start new ones, including on lithospheric anisotropy in subduction zones. I am also working with Prof. Sato on post- seismic relaxation after the Tohoku M9 event.
I am looking forward to my return visit, meeting old friends, and meeting new ones. My office is T-22, please drop by to chat.
