A Real Time Monitoring System for Fast Determination of Rupture Processes of Large earthquakes

Self Introduction

I am lucky to be hosted by Professor Hitoshi KAWAKATSU for six months research in Earthquake Research Institute of The University of Tokyo. I was focusing on the source process of recent large earthquakes via large array data for the past three years. Some interesting source features such as frequency dependence and supershear rupture are clearly observed with ample evidences for several large earthquakes.

Here I am going to work more on this issue with ERI seismologists, and consider applying real time Hi-net data to have a fast and reliable estimate of large earthquakes around Japan. Future implementation of this method to China Array would help to get the source dimension, source propagation direction, and rupture speed for large earthquakes that occur around Japan islands, which would help emergency response such as tsunami evacuation for decision makers. My office is 1-402, do not hesitate to drop by me.
