Visco-elastic spherical dislocation theory and its application to the Tohoku-Oki Mw9.0 earthquake | |
Host Researcher |
Yoshiyuki TANAKA |
I am an associate Professor at Institute of Earthquake Science, China Earthquake Administration, Beijing, China. I engage in the studies of dislocation theories for a 3-D heterogeneous spherical earth model (a layered spherical earth model) and their applications. I am interested in the work of explaining far field displacements, strains, gravity changes and so on, caused by great earthquakes, using above dislocation theories. I hope that in the coming four months I can grasp Tanaka’s dislocation theories for a visco-elastic spherical earth model, and use his theories to study the post-seismic deformations caused by the 2011 Tohoku-Oki earthquake. I believe that our friendship will be further strengthened through the four months’ cooperation.
In fact, ERI is not a new place to me. I had lived here for nearly five years, as a research student, a PhD student, and a postdoctoral fellow. March of 2007 is one of the most glorious moments in my life, when I got my PhD degree at department of Science, the University of Tokyo.
At the first evening I came, I had a long walk in the campus. This walk reminds me many, many good memories.
