Kenji SATAKE |
I am from Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Kanpur, INDIA. I did my post-doc from Hiroshima University during 1999-2001, had an opportunity to work with Prof. Nakata on Active Faults. In 2001, I joined IITK, and since then I have been working on Active Fault and Paleoseismology along NW Himalayan front and Kachchh region (Gujarat). In recent years, after 2004 Sumatra-Andaman earthquake I developed my research interest in paleo-tsunami and coastal paleoseismological studies. From collaborative projects between IITK and ERI-University of Tokyo we have been able to generate excellent information related to past earthquake events and land-level change from Andaman Islands. During my present stay at ERI we propose to analyze the sediment stratigraphic data from Andaman. This study will help us towards identification and reconstruction of paloe-tsunami history, and in developing better understanding of past and ongoing deformation around Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
With great regards
