Self Introduction

Hi everyone. I am from the National Geophysical Research Institute Hyderabad. I work as a senior scientist and head a research group in Seismology. Our group is basically involved in imaging the deep structure and deformation of the Indian plate, Moment Tensor inversion for earthquake source mechanisms and site specific seismic hazard assessment studies. We utilize the broadband seismological data being accrued by the various permanent stations operated by the national agencies like the India Meteorological Department and various universities. Our group is also actively engaged in conducting passive seismological experiments in the diverse tectonic settings of the Indian plate like the eastern Himalaya, the Andaman Nicobar region and Paleo-rift zones within the shield region.

My current research interests include modeling of teleseismic P and S receiver functions for deciphering the lithospheric structure, shear wave anisotropy using core phases and Ps conversions. During my stay here at ERI, I am working on monte carlo inversion of receiver functions to characterize the detailed structure of the south west Japanese subduction zone in terms of dip, anisotropy and VpVs ratio. This is my first visit to Japan and I am very excited about being in such a wonderful country. I look forward to an eventful stay and fruitful interaction with the pioneering researchers here.
