Self Introduction
I'm a kind of exotic seismologist looking for Earthquakes & Tsunami observing Ionospere by remote sensing. Thanks to technological advances over the past twenty years the ionosphere is today a new sensitive medium to seismc events. Surface waves (Rayleigh and tsunami) emitted after large earthquakes are known to induce, by dynamic coupling, atmospheric infrasonic and gravity waves propagating upward through the atmosphere. These waves growing up form the surface to the top of the atmosphere are strongly amplified by the effect of exponential decreasing of density with altitude & their interaction with the ionosphere produces detectable perturbations in the plasma density and plasma velocity. Ionospheric Seismology may thus turn out in the future to be a useful new tool for seismology, tsunami detection & ocean monitoring… …anyway, for now, I'm here at ERI to work with Watada san on the effect produced in the ionosphere by the Tohoku event as well as to explore more in details the theoretical coupling between the Earth and its fluid envelope. If you are interested to my work, please crash in my office (building 3, 2nd floor, T22) and/or visit my webpage (www.ipgp.fr/~ninto/) where you can easily download my papers & supplementary materials.
