My current research focuses mostly on the better understanding of earthquake ground motions, from their generation at the seismic source up to the site response characteristics that modify the incoming waves at the observation site. I am particularly interested in the determination of earthquake source parameters, how they scale with earthquake size and how their variability can be better understood and taken into account for ground motion prediction.
I am a senior research scientist at the European Center for Geodynamics and Seismology (ECGS) in Luxembourg, where I work since January 2008. I did my full study cycles from undergraduate to Ph.D. at the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. My Ph.D. research focused on the ground motion characteristics and the source process of the intermediate-depth Vrancea earthquakes in Romania. During my stay at ERI, I will try to better understand in how far the earthquake stress drop variability observed throughout Japan can be related to the variability in JMA intensity and ground motion parameters.
It’s a great pleasure to be here at ERI, and I look forward to a great time and interaction with many of you. Please do not hesitate to come for a chat to room 304 (building 1).
