In recent years, I was concerned mostly with two research topics: (1) deep electromagnetic studies of the upper mantle electrical conductivity and (2) the development of technology for shallow water marine electromagnetic survey.
This is my second visit to ERI. During this visit, I will be collaborating with Professor Hisashi Utada on studies of electrical conductivity structure of the subduction zone with special focus on the effect of subvertical conducting zones on EM fields.
In general fields of my scientific interests are as follows: Electromagnetic induction studies in the Ocean and Earth, Conductivity structure of the Earth's crust and upper mantle, Motionally induced electric field and submarine cable voltage measurements, Electromagnetic monitoring of ocean variability, Multidisciplinary environmental observation systems
