Self Introduction
Abdurrahman Sahin is an Associate Professor at Yıldız Technical University (YTU), Department of Civil Engineering, Istanbul, Turkey. He was an undergrad at Ondokuz Mayıs University and gained his PhD from Karadeniz Technical University, then worked as a post-doc in EU FP7 Project at Bogazici University – Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (KOERI), and finally came to YTU in 2011.
His research focuses on seismic design of special engineering structures, soil-structure interaction, earthquake wave propagation, experimental and operational modal analysis, digital signal processing, system identification, numerical damage assessment, structural health monitoring and nondestructive evaluation. Prof. Sahin is currently working on full computation and simulation of earthquake hazards and disasters for urban areas at The University of Tokyo - Earthquake Research Institute (ERI). He is collaborating with Prof. Muneo Hori and his research group at ERI. He is also a member of international collaborative research project between Turkey and Japan named as “Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster Mitigation in the Marmara Region and Disaster Education in Turkey”.
Prof. Sahin is supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) for his research studies in Japan. He desires to improve many collaborative research projects with the scientists at The University of Tokyo in the future.
