Reflection and transmission coefficients
A demo of reflection and transmission on the internal interface of SH wave
- Medium 0 and 1 represent the upper and lower mediums, respectively.
- Specify the S wave velocity and density for each medium.
- Specify the incident angle. The incident wave travels from the top down.
- Right panel shows the reflection and transmission coefficients as a function of the incient angle. The current incident angle is indicated by a vertical line.
- Press the Start/Pause button to pause/resume.
- After a short delay, a seismic ray is traced from the upper left.
- The upper waveform shows the displacement at the top surface, and the lower waveform shows the displacement at the boundary.
- You can see total reflection after the critical angle. The phase of the reflected wave is shifted.
