The ERI library has the collection of
publications listed below and supports research in all fields of seismology,
physics of earth and planets, geology, volcanology, and earthquake engineering. The collection includes additional
fields of mathematics, physics and engineering. As of April 1, 2001 Library possesses;
・Books: 18,640 Japanese volumes
and 30,054 foreign ones,
・Scientific magazines: 872
Japanese serial titles and 818 foreign ones,
・Maps: Geological, topographic and
fundamental bathymetric maps around Japan. Fundamental land utility maps of
Japan and others. Total of about 20,000 sheets,
・Tsuboi collection: 10,000
reprints of Prof. Chuji Tsuboi.
・16 mm films, videos: 50 titles,
・Archives (Including old Japanese
drawings like Namazu-e and Kawaraban): 600 titles,
・Photographs (Kanto earthquake,
Niigata earthquake, 1906 California earthquake): 300 photos.

We have also published
"Bulletin of Earthquake Research Institute" quarterly since 1926, and
distribute it to other libraries of a great number of institutes in Japan and
overseas.
