ERI Summer Internship Program under JST Sakura Program 2020

 

Earthquake Research Institute (ERI), the University of Tokyo is planning to invite up to 10 undergraduate or graduate students for a short summer internship program, with potential support from SAKURA Exchange Program in Science of Japan Science Technology Agency (JST).
We particularly welcome students who consider studying at ERI as a student of Graduate School, the University of Tokyo.

 
- Please note that ERI is currently applying to JST for funding. The program for 2020 is subject to change depending on the result of the application. The program may be postponed or cancelled depending on the coronavirus situation. We will provide an update as needed.iFebruary 17, 2020)

Dates (Tentative): Thursday, June 25 to Wednesday, July 15, 2020

The program focuses on learning scientific/engineering introduction to the seismology, volcanology, earth dynamics or geology/geophysics, under the supervision of host researchers at ERI.   

 

Eligibility: 

1. Eligible countries are (in alphabetical order):

People's Republic of Bangladesh, Kingdom of Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Kingdom of Cambodia, People's

Republic of China, Republic of Fiji, Republic of India, Republic of Indonesia, Republic of Kazakhstan, Republic

of Korea, Kyrgyz Republic, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Republic of Maldives, Republic of the

Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Mongolia, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Federal

Democratic Republic of Nepal, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Palau, Independent State of Papua

New Guinea, Republic of the Philippines, Independent State of Samoa, Republic of Singapore, Solomon Islands,

Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Republic of Tajikistan, Kingdom of Thailand, Democratic

Republic of Timor-Leste, Kingdom of Tonga, Turkmenistan, Republic of Uzbekistan, Socialist Republic of

Viet Nam, and United Mexican States.

 

2. Undergraduate or graduate students under the age of 40

@@We particularly welcome students who consider studying at ERI as a student of Graduate School, the University of Tokyo.

 

3. A person who has not studied in Japan (including the Sakura Program in the past)

@@ Materials requested in Application Form are as follows:

1.             Application form (including desired host researchers at ERI, and past visits to Japan)

2.             Summary of current research with title ( must be in 200-300 words)

3.             Research poposal at ERI with titile (must be in 200-300 words)

4.             List of publication and conference presentations (if any)

5.             Copy of Passport (photo page)

6.             Transcript

7.             Certificate of Enrollment (or Bonafide Certificate)

8.             Recommendation letter (should be sent directly from your supervisor)

Please send the above application documents by March 23.


We will announce the result when we will be notified the result for funding application by JST at the end of April.
