Self Introduction
I am interested in physical and dynamical processes inside planetary
interiors and how these processes shape planetary evolution. My research topics include melting and differentiation of the early Earth and other planets and the emergence of various styles of mantle dynamics such as plate tectonics and stagnant lid convection. One of the most intriguing aspects of mantle dynamics is the complexity of the global mantle behavior caused by a constantly evolving microstructure of rocks, especially mineral grain size. Grain size-dependent mantle dynamics might explain some puzzling phenomena and seismic observations. I am grateful to the ERI and my host Professor Satoru Honda for providing me with an opportunity to work on these problems in a diverse and stimulating research environment.
