Outline

From Surface to Deep Interior

From High Energy to Low Energy

From Muons to Neutrinos

The purpose of MNR2013 is to stimulate an interdisciplinary approach by applying techniques developed from elementary particle research to the study of earth sciences. Geophysics research has long been dominated by continuum mechanics and electromagnetism, largely disregarding the potential benefits that knowledge of particle physics has to augment existing techniques. Our objective is to strengthen collaboration across discipline borders and supplement the current procedures associated with current earth science data collection. During this conference we aim to strengthen understanding and partnership particularly between particle physicists and geophysicists. It is our belief that closer interaction across the borders between traditional geophysics and particle physics fosters the generation of new ideas. The speakers in this workshop will present ways in which they have implemented an interdisciplinary approach as a strategy in their particular fields along with an account of their proposed or ongoing studies.
