About Special collections
Our special collections hold Japanese antiquarian materials related to earthquakes, volcanoes, and natural disasters, including namazu‑e (catfish prints) and kawaraban (printed broadsides).
These materials are located in the Special Collections Room and are gradually being digitized.
Digital archives
(2026/4～)Available on the UTokyo Digital Archive Portal.
This database contains special collections kept by the ERI Library.
Representative items include ”しんよし原大なまづゆらひ”, ”[あら嬉し大安日にゆり直す]”, ”浅間焼見聞實記”, ”寛政四子年肥前国嶋原山々燃崩城下町々村々破損ノ圖 ” and more.

Request for Usage Reports and Submission of Publications
- If you have created books, research papers, or other materials using our image data, please report your usage via this form.
- If possible, we kindly ask that you provide us with a copy of your published books or materials. Please note that provided items may be added to our library collection and made available for public use.
To promote the active use of our library collection and digital content, our library allows the free use of our published image data without requiring any special application procedures.
On the other hand, this makes it difficult for us to track how the data is actually being used.
Understanding how our image data is utilized serves as a valuable reference for our future digitization efforts. Thank you for your cooperation.
