April 21, 2006	Homepage for COV5 officially opened. The logo is meant to represent the castle in Shimabara and its freshwater springs, cherry blossoms (Japan's national flower), and Unzen volcano with its lush green background.
January 26, 2006	Decision to hold COV5 in Shimabara made at the COV4 meeting in Quito.
