MuOGRaPhErS Will the merging of elementary particle and remote sensing technologies bring abount a technological revolution in Earth visualization? 素粒子、光がもたらす未来の技術は地球の可視化に革命をもたらすか？

MUOGRAPHERS dates back to the first international workshop held on June 26, 2008 in Tokyo. "High Energy Earth Science" was its title and the meeting was dedicated to the topic of elementary particle physics applied to visualization of the Earth. After 2008, this workshop continued to evolve during meetings held in Italy, France and Japan, and most recently MUOGRAPHERS came back to Tokyo in 2014. After considering the importance of new developments in other innovative Earth visualization techniques, now "MUOGRAPHERS" stands for Muon, Optics, Geoneutrino, Radar, and Photonics for Earth Studies and seeks to advance research into cutting-edge, new spatio-temporal scale Earth visualization techniques by enhancing the innovative technologies.

MUOGRAPHERSは2008年6月26日、世界で最初に東京で開かれた国際ワークショップにルーツを持っている。そのワークショップのタイトルは"High Energy Earth Science"。素粒子物理学の地球内部の可視化への応用が主要なトピックだった。2008年以降、ワークショップはイタリア、フランス、日本と渡り歩く中で進化しつづけ、昨年、東京にMUOGRAPHERSとして戻ってきた。ほかの地球可視化技術の発展に鑑みて、現在、MUOGRAPHERSはMuon, Optics, Geoneutrino, Radar, and Photonics for Earth Studiesの略である。地球可視化の最前線に立ち、革新的技術を高めることで新たな時空間スケールで地球を描き出す先駆的な研究を求めていくものである。
