UTokyo OPAC
You can search for books, journals, e‑journals, and e‑books held by the University of Tokyo Library.
Materials whose “Location” is shown as ”ERI.Lib.” in the OPAC are held by ERI Library.
※Some materials and collections are not included in the OPAC. Card catalogs or other finding aids may be available. For details, please contact the ERI library.
Periodicals
Periodicals marked with a “+” in the holdings column of the OPAC indicates a current subscription.
Newspapers currently subscribed are listed in Reading Room section.
Books
Materials whose “Location” is shown as "ERI.Spec.Coll.", please refer to Special collection section.
Call numbers
Books are arranged by call number. The first line of each call number shows the classification symbols used for books held in the ERI Library.

Japanese Rare Books
We hold Japanese antiquarian materials related to related to earthquakes, volcanoes, and natural disasters, including namazu‑e (catfish prints) and kawaraban (printed broadsides)
These materials are locatesd in the Special Collections Room. These are being digitized.

First stack room
- First level
- Back issues of foreign periodicals are arranged alphabetically by title.
- Second level
- Books are shelved in call‑number order.
- Third level
- Back issues of Japanese periodicals are arranged alphabetically by title.
※Japanese periodicals include English‑language periodicals published in Japan.
- Publications of the USGS(United States Geological Survey)and Materials on historical natural disasters (e.g., special issues of periodicals) are also kept on this level.
Second stack room
※This room is available during the opening hours.
- Back issues of infrequently used foreign periodicals are shelved alphabetically by title.
- Back issues of periodicals in Russian, Chinese and Korean languages.
- Bulletins published by Japanese universities and institutions (including those published by ERI) are arranged alphabetically by institution name and then alphabetically by title within each institution.
- Collections(Imamura Collection, Kishinoue Collection, Ishimoto collection etc.)
※The Tsuboi Collection is kept in the storage stack (Room 318).
Reading room
Newly arrived periodicals are kept alphabetically by title in the reading room.
Back issues are kept in the stack room. Some newly arrived periodicals may also be kept in the stack room.

Special collections room
The following materials are kept in the room for special collections.
- AV materials (videotapes, 16mm films, photographs ...) related to earthquakes, volcanoes, and natural disasters
- Old books related to earthquakes, volcanoes, and natural disasters, and woodblock prints from the Edo era such as kawaraban (printed broadsides) and namazu‑e (catfish prints).
We are digitizing our collection of Japanese rare books and documents, including old manuscripts, kawaraban (printed broadsides), and namazu‑e (catfish prints) and publishing the image data. Please see this page for details.
These materials are not available for loan.
