Using the library


Opening Hours

Monday-Friday 9:00-12:00 & 13:00-17:00

Reading

No procedures are required to enter the reading room. This is an open‑stack area, please return materials to the shelf where you found them after use.

Borrowing

Materials may be borrowed with a Faculty IC card, a Student IC card, or a Library IC card.

※ Unbound periodicals, maps, and audiovisual materials are not available for loan.

Renewing

You may renew items before their due date. Renewal requests can be made via MyOPAC.
Log in to MyOPAC and click the “Extension” button under the “Status of Loan/Reservation” menu.
Overdue items and items reserved by other users cannot be renewed.
You may also request renewals for ERI library materials at the ERI library's service counter.

Returning

Please return items at the service counter.
During closing hours, please use the book drop located in front of the library entrance.
You may return ERI Library materials to any other UTokyo library.

※The entrance to ERI 2nd Building is locked at 17:30. Please note that visitors from other departments cannot enter.

Photocopying

Photocopying facilities in the ERI Library are not available to non-members.
If you wish to photocopy materials of the ERI Library at the university’s expense, please ask your departmental library to issue a “Request Form for Photocopying Materials at University Expense” and bring the completed form to the ERI Library. (Please contact your departmental library for details of the procedure.).

Members of the Department of Earth and Planetary Science of the School of Science and the Department of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering may use a copy card. Please inquire at the service counter. For other cases, please ask library staff for assistance.

Photocopying of library materials is permitted only in accordance with the Copyright Act of Japan.
