The selected research paper: Theoretical computation of crustal deformation and gravity variation due to a great earthquake using a spherically symmetric viscoelastic Earth model

Abstract:  The theory treats a computational method of a long-term post-seismic relaxation due to a great earthquake for a spherically symmetric viscoelastic Earth model. It enabled to consider the effects of compressibility for the first time, which had been neglected in previous theories due to the inherent numerical difficulties. The author further expanded the method a longing problem in glacial isostatic adjustment, and is further expanded for cases of for calculations of post-seismic deformation in a spherical Earth model with a three-dimensional viscosity structure. By this method, far-field crustal deformation data and satellite gravity data can be effectively used to investigate mechanisms of post-seismic deformation.
