Title: Toward understanding Forearc Dynamics and the Establishment of a De Facto Standard Earthquake–Volcano Database
Abstract:
The deployment of S-net stations in northeastern Japan marks a major advancement in seismic observation since the introduction of the waveform telemetering system in 1975 and the deployment of dense Hi-net stations in 2000. In the first part of this seminar, I will introduce the development of a new earthquake catalog that leverages S-net data and machine learning. The interpretations of the seismicity highlight the fluid pathway that constrain the rupture of large interplate earthquakes and activate shallow earthquakes. In the second part, I will present a plan for a new integrated database and analysis platform for earthquakes and volcanoes, currently under development at the Collaboration Center for Earthquake and Volcano Research.
