Introduction: Dr Harry Linang is a seismologist and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geology at Universiti Malaya. After receiving his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2023, he joined the university with a research focus on the tectonic complexities of Southeast Asia.
His work involves using advanced seismic imaging techniques, such as receiver function method, to map the Earth’s crust and upper mantle. By analyzing seismic waves from global earthquakes, he aims to understand the dynamic forces shaping the region, ultimately contributing to more robust seismic hazard assessments. Other than research, he teaches undergraduate courses in Geophysics, Seismology, Structural Geology and supervises student research projects in seismology.
