25 years since Hokkaido Nansei‐oki earthquake

12th July 1993, an earthquake of M7.8 occurred offshore of southwestern Hokkaido that caused tsunami with death toll of 230 in Okushiri Island. (cited from Science Chronology)
Okushiri Island was close to the source region, therefore, tsunami arrived shortly which is one of the reason why damage increased.
