Introduction: Lapo Boschi is Associate Professor of Geophysics at the Geosciences Department of the University of Padua, Italy. He earned his Ph.D in Geophysics from Harvard University, after which he occupied research and teaching positions at the ETH in Zurich, Switzerland, and at Sorbonne University in Paris, France. His main field of expertise is the physics of acoustic and seismic waves, and wave-based imaging. His research contributions are decidedly multidisciplinary, ranging from tectonics and seismic tomography to sonification and bioacoustics. Over the course of his career, he has supervised fourteen PhD students, several of whom now occupy academic research positions at highly ranked institutions. He has an extensive teaching portfolio covering a general geophysics curriculum.
