Introduction: Dr. Pablo Rey Devesa is a geophysicist and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Earthquake Research Institute, University of Tokyo. He obtained his PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Granada in 2025, after studying Physics at the University of Santiago de Compostela and completing a Master’s degree in Geophysics. He has held research stays at the Alaska Volcano Observatory and the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, and most recently conducted postdoctoral research at Université Libre de Bruxelles.
His expertise lies in seismic signal processing, time series analysis, and machine learning applied to volcanic eruption forecasting, with a particular focus on feature extraction and the use of seismic characteristic as an early-warning tool. At ERI, his project focuses on geophysical data fusion for eruption forecasting and source evolution modelling, integrating different data sources through physically informed AI models to improve forecasting accuracy and risk mitigation.
