Theme: Acoustic wave measurement in laboratory experiment on volcanic processes
Host: Mie ICHIHARA
Introduction: I am a physicist and Dr. in Science at the University of Santiago of Chile.
The main focus of my research during these past years has been studying the eruption mechanism of volcanoes and the wave phenomena that accompany them. Through analog experiments and field measurement, I explore the eruption mechanics from a different point of view; within infrasound records on the field and the analog experiments acoustics and rheology on a laboratory scale. I investigated acoustic waves generated by film bursting above a cavity in my Ph.D. thesis in Chile and France. Then, I studied the effect of solid particle weight on the film on acoustic waves in a postdoctoral position at Firenze University in Italy.
I have joined the project led by Prof. Mie Ichihara at ERI and I am mainly engaged in the experimental study of complex fluids to understand the complex nature of magma and the conditions under the bubbles and magma may control the eruption styles and the consequences in the acoustic phenomena.
